No Longer Enemies

Genesis 38

The orange kitten was hungry. The grizzly bear was lonely. The man was apprehensive. The kitten weighed no more than ten ounces when he first slid under the fence into the bear's pen. The man was almost in a panic, thinking the hungry grizzly would kill him and eat him for dinner.

Afraid to do anything that might alarm, "Griz," the man just watched. As the 650-pound grizzly was eating his midday meal, something extraordinary happened. The bear picked out a chicken wing and dropped it near the kitten.

From that moment on, Griz and "Cats" friendly relationship defined both the patterns of nature, as well as their own troubled life histories. Griz never took advantage of Cat's weaknesses, and each animal accommodated the others needs.

What a lesson Griz and Cat offer! We can help each other break free from the patterns of our past that keep us from loving each other. As we pray for and care for others with the love of Jesus Christ, we obtain healing by the grace of God, both for them and ourselves!

The wolf also shall dwell with the Lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. - Isaiah 11:6

The Right Hand Of God!

I went to watch the sun rise....but it was struggling! Then it was as if the hand of God "embraced" it and the sun began to shine. Amazing!

A reminder when we struggle~God's hand is there to guide us.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. -Isaiah 41:10

Pass It On!

Read: Genesis 37

On the first day of his cruise in the Caribbean, a man entering his senior years noticed an attractive woman about his age. She gave him a friendly smile as he passed by.

That evening at dinner, he was seated at the same table with her. To make conversation, he commented that he had appreciated her kind smile during his afternoon walk. When she heard this, she said, "The reason I smiled was that when I saw you, I was immediately struck by your strong resemblance to my third husband."

"Oh, how many times have you been married?" he asked with interest.

She looked down at her dinner plate, a slight smile crossed her face, and she tentatively answered, "Twice."

A smile is a great encourager!

Have you been grumpy today? Ask God for a double dose of His joy, and then put a smile on your face. Let people know you refuse to take on the negativism or cynicism of the world. You can be cheerful and pass that cheer on to others with a simple smile.

Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy. -Psalm 126:2

I am not what I ought to be.
I am not what I wish to be.
I am not even what I hope to be.
But by the cross of Christ,
I am not what I was. ~John Newton
